i believe he is present
by the tombs of our secret
lazaruses.
i believe he offers comfort
not in salted words
('this wound will be well')
but in the salt of divine
and deeply humane tears.
i believe the rain before the bow
proclaims something, too,
as it falls on our barren ground:
God with us
